Vestas ready to deliver 15 MW turbines for Equinor project

The wind turbine manufacturer was confirmed on Tuesday as the preferred supplier for the project.

Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas looks set to deliver its V236-15MW turbine to the Empire Wind project in New York State, USA, according to industry publication Recharge News.

The project is owned by Norwegian Equinor, and Vestas was confirmed on Tuesday as the preferred supplier for the project.

While a firm contract for the turbines has yet to be signed, Vestas has signaled that it is ready to deliver its new giant turbine to the project once it has undergone final testing, according to Recharge News.

The Empire Wind 1 project has a total capacity of 810 megawatts (MW). Vestas is also the preferred supplier for Empire Wind 2, which is planned to have a capacity of 1.2 gigawatts (GW).
