A capacity of 1.8 gigawatts was awarded at the recent German auction for onshore wind projects, which is some way short of the 2.5 gigawatts offered, Recharge News reports.

However, the German Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA), which is responsible for the auction, is still relatively positive about the result, which was close to the 1.98 gigawatts awarded in an auction in December.

The average price of the successful bids in the new auction round was EUR 73.40/MwH. This is just below the set maximum price of EUR 73.50/MwH.

Since the maximum price for successful bids was raised in late 2022, no auction has resulted in less than 1.4 gigawatts of allocation, BNetzA points out

”The encouraging trend continues. Onshore wind tenders continue to consolidate. In wind, we are not yet where we want to be to reach our expansion targets. But we are on the right track,” says Klaus Müller, CEO of BNetzA, according to Recharge News.
