Ørsted affected by port blockade

Since Friday, an offshore wind turbine installation vessel has been blocked from leaving by dockworkers due to the lack of a collective agreement for seafarers.

An installation vessel to be used on the two Ørsted wind farms Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 1 cannot leave the port of Esbjerg, as a number of dockworkers have been blocking the vessel Seaway Ventus since Friday, according to Danish Offshore Industry - DOI.dk.

The blockade is happening because the seafarers on board are not covered by a collective agreement, which the dockworkers hold Ørsted responsible for.

”It is an old agreement between the dockworkers and the seafarers that there must be a collective agreement on the ships that come here to Esbjerg. That’s the only way work can resume,” says Brian Reichle, who has been warning Ørsted about the lack of a collective agreement for a month, to DOI.dk
