Ministry of Energy plays matchmaker through tender requirement as oil field operator eyes up wind energy

The winner of the Sørlige Nordsjø II tender is required to investigate the possibility of supplying the Ekofisk oil field with electricity, it has emerged.

In connection with the publication of Norway’s revised 2024 budget, it has emerged that the Norwegian Ministry of Energy, headed up by Energy Minister Terje Aasland, is asking Ventyr to contact the Ekofisk field operator, ConocoPhilips, about the possibility of electrifying the oil field using power from the Sørlige Nordsjø II offshore wind farm.
