Five upcoming Danish projects worth a combined DKK 4.2bn (EUR 563m) have received a financial boost from the Danish government.

The government’s green investment scheme, which was launched at the start of the year, has approved five projects in the energy industry that will receive a total of DKK 634.1m (EUR 85m) in support. The companies in question are Siemens Gamesa, Niebuhr Gears, Advanced Surface Plating, H2Giga and Nord Assembly Lines.

”The world has changed. There is war in Europe. With large state aid programs, green billion-dollar investments are being attracted to China and the US. The government will defend and strengthen Danish strengths. This applies to wind production and PTX technology,” says Business Minister Morten Bødskov in a press release from the Energy Ministry, adding:

”Today, support from the green investment support scheme has been secured for five projects, approximately 800 new jobs have been created, and a total of more than DKK 4.2bn has been invested in new jobs. This is good for Denmark and the growth of our strong green manufacturing industry.”

According to Lars Aagaard, Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities, it is necessary to follow suit and provide government support when major powers like the US and China do the same.

”Denmark is known for its world-class green production and we must of course protect and maintain this position. I don’t have an ideological infatuation with the idea of government subsidies, but the government’s green investment scheme is born out of a cool head and necessity.”

The total pool presented back in December 2023 amounted to DKK 1bn. Siemens Gamesa expects to create 500 new jobs with its investments in Aalborg and Esbjerg. They are the recipient of the largest share of the funding with a total commitment of over DKK 500m.
