Confederation of Danish Industry hopes EU will focus on green competitive edge
If you ask the Confederation of Danish Industry in Copenhagen, the 15 Danish MEPs heading to Brussels will have plenty of work to do.
This applies in particular to the competitiveness of European companies in relation to the US and China, where green technologies in particular risk being lost if we do not react in time, says Lars Sandahl Sørensen, CEO of the Confederation of Danish Industry, in a press release:
”When we talk about green transition in Europe, for example, the US and China are racing ahead with a speed and agility that we find hard to match in Europe. Green companies should preferably stay and develop in Europe. If competitiveness is not strengthened, we risk losing - not only in global competition, but also in the climate fight,” says Sørensen.
He calls the current situation a crossroads.
”The right conditions and opportunities exist to maintain a strong and prosperous Europe. This applies to innovation, technological development, investments and much more. But it is a big and serious problem that we are destroying these opportunities for ourselves in Europe if the EU does not show decisiveness and is quickly modernized and reformed.”
The final election results have yet to be tallied, but the preliminary election results provide the most reliable picture of the election results so far, with the political center appearing to retain power, according to Ritzau.
”There is a majority in the center for a strong Europe. In other words: The center holds,” said Commission President Ursula von der Leyen about the preliminary election results.
