Dong's road to China is paved with obstacles

Taiwan will be Dong's stepping stone to a larger Asian offshore wind venture. China is a key market, says head of strategy Martin Neubert, but a wind consultant predicts a tough climb into the Chinese market.

Dong Energy recently opened a new office in Taiwan, where the company aims to develop four new offshore wind farms with a total capacity of 2 GW. Should it succeed, the venture will rake in wins for the Danish energy company, which has constructed a total of 3 GW thus far, all in Europe.
