The inauguration of Dong Energy's extension farm for Burbo Bank is finally approaching. The last turbine out of a total 32 was erected in December, says Vestas of the project, which is the first large-scale development to use MHI Vestas' 8 MW turbine, the V164.
Although the farm is not yet officially operational, this does not keep Vestas from making ambitious statements about the future. In the company's annual report, the wind turbine manufacturer projects an average annual growth in installations of 38 percent ahead of 2020. With a current 2,037 MW in operation, this means that the offshore turbine joint venture must install 7,386 MW by the end of 2020.
