Danish advisors see biomass as the "new wind"

Biomass is the biggest growth area, says Cowi, which has won a contract in Southern Africa. The company believes that prior Danish efforts have opened up for export ventures paralleling those of wind.

Consultancy firm Cowi has won a contract on a biomass project in the African country of Namibia. Cowi has been selected as technical-economic advisor on a feasibility study, to lay the groundwork for the construction of a 20 MW power plant which will use an invasive plant species found in the Namibian Savannah as its fuel. The project is expected to lead to several similar projects in the country.
