Consultancy firm Cowi has won a contract on a biomass project in the African country of Namibia. Cowi has been selected as technical-economic advisor on a feasibility study, to lay the groundwork for the construction of a 20 MW power plant which will use an invasive plant species found in the Namibian Savannah as its fuel. The project is expected to lead to several similar projects in the country.
"The plan is to build a series of biomass plants spread across Northern Namibia, so that the grassy savannahs are restored," says Cowi's marketing director for industry and energy, Marc Normann.
