Statoil considers large floating wind farms in Norway

The oil company intends to install offshore wind farms in connection with Norwegian oil installations. The framework is "almost" in place in Norway, says Statoil's executive vice president for New Energy Solutions – all it takes now is tax cuts.

Norway may soon have a much more viable offshore wind industry, suggested Irene Rummelhoff, Statoil's Executive VP for New Energy Solutions, at an event hosted by the Norwegian Shipowners' Association Monday at the Arendalsuken festival. Rummelhoff noted that a Norwegian domestic market for offshore wind has moved one step closer.
