Union representative on Siemens layoffs: It was very sudden

The large-scale layoffs at Siemens Gamesa's Aalborg facility in Denmark came as a shock to employees, says union representative Thomas Fischer, who had not expected such large numbers.

Nearly a third of the 2,100 employees at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy in the Danish city Aalborg will be dismissed, announced the wind turbine manufacturer Friday afternoon. DR Nordjylland spoke with union representative Thomas Fischer, who had been informed of the layoffs earlier that day.
