
The first offshore wind farm off the coast of Jamaica could be in the works. The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has awarded the state-owned oil company Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) a grant to fund a feasibility study concerning the profitability of installing a wind farm near the island.
"The study will help to develop new energy resources and create potential commercial opportunities for US technologies in Jamaica," says Nathan Younge, USTDA's Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, in a statement.
