Eon's profit plummets

The German utility "unequivocally reaffirm[s]" its annual guidance despite its result having taken a steep nose dive. It was anticipated, and the EU's close inspection of the Innogy transaction is no cause for concern, the company states.

Eon's first quarter profit margin fell to 5.4 percent against 11.8 percent in 2018. The German utility booked a net result of EUR 493 million and revenue of EUR 9.162 billion in Q1 – in other words, a decline of more than 50 percent relative to the same period last year, achieved with a 5 percent lower top line, shows the company's interim report.
