Venezuela says nationwide outage caused by attack on power grid

Venezuela is experiencing a nationwide blackout it attributes to an "electromagnetic attack" on the country's power grid, which has been rationing service in 20 states since April. Industry specialists and critics point to poor system maintenance and lack of energy infrastructure investment.

Venezuela is in the dark after a nationwide blackout Monday afternoon caused by an "electromagnetic attack" against the nation’s electricity generation hub in eastern Venezuela, Information Minister Jorge Rodriguez said.
