RWE targets climate neutrality by 2040 as sun sets on coal

Europe's largest CO₂ emitter, German utility RWE AG, has just pledged carbon neutrality by 2040, which it plans to achieve through coal plant decommissionings, biomass conversions and by expanding its renewable energy portfolio.
