Offshore wind candidate sells gas business for nearly USD 10bn

Warren Buffett company makes large acquisition in gas infrastructure from a US utility, which at the same time scraps a delayed, expensive gas pipeline.

Last Monday, pilot project Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind reached its completion. Although it consists of a mere two turbines totaling 12 MW, the ambitions of Dominion Energy, which owns the project alongside Ørsted, are markedly greater. These pertain to offshore wind, with a planned 2.6 GW for 2026 and double that by 2034, and to solar energy, of which the company aims to have 15.9 GW in 15 years.
