Ørsted to save hydrogen project with nearshore wind PPA

With the prospect of an energy island in the Baltic Sea becoming more distant than originally assumed, Ørsted ensures it can receive the needed 250 MW for grand project Green Fuels for Denmark from a coastal offshore wind farm.

There's nothing unusual about Ørsted signing a power purchase agreement (PPA) for an offshore wind farm. Even less so with projects lying in the Baltic Sea, where the utility is banking big on market leadership. In fact, the deal in question pertains to wind turbines standing very few kilometers offshore of the Danish company's headquarters in Gentofte north of Copenhagen.
