Western Norwegian hydro reservoirs in hit record low

Hydroelectric reservoirs in the country’s NO5 electricity zone have refilled to a record-low degree, pushing up prices.

The weekly hydroelectric reservoir statistics published by the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) every Wednesday show the degree of refilling at the end of week 15 to be 22.7 percent. That volume of water is enough to generate 18.7TWh by releasing flows through hydro turbines – substantially less water than normally at this time of year. Usually, the degree is 33.3 percent, and the figure at the same time last year was 41.6 percent.
