BP dishes out dividends despite setback

The British oil company follows its competitors’ descent from the previous quarters’ unprecedented peaks, but despite disappointment still earns a several millions a day.

Disappointment can take many forms. On Tuesday morning, UK oil company BP announced its second quarter results, which with an underlying profit of just under USD 2.6bn was far below the USD 3.5bn analyst consensus. But even though this marks a 70% year-on-year slump, it still equates to around USD 30m in daily profits.
