In connection with the Danish energy company’s annual report, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ørsted, Thomas Thune Andersen, announced that he has decided to step down.

This will happen at the company’s Annual General Meeting on March 5, 2024.

”2023 was a challenging year for Ørsted. We’ve learned from the challenges and today we’re presenting a robust business plan with revised strategic growth ambitions for 2030. The plan has been developed in close collaboration between the Executive Management Team and the Board of Directors, and we’re confident that it’s a robust plan that can ensure our continued long-term growth,” says Thomas Thune Andersen in connection with the financial statements.

Andersen calls it both a pleasure and a privilege to have been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ørsted for the past ten years. He highlights the transition from Dong Energy to Ørsted, where the company moved away from oil in favor of renewable energy.

”We now have a new plan that will more than double Ørsted’s capacity by the end of this decade and deliver on our continued ambition to be the world’s leading green energy company,” the outgoing Chairman of the Board continues:

”Now that the plan is in place and we’re entering a new era, it’s an appropriate time for me to step down and hand over the task of executing the plan to a new Chairman of the Board.”
