Lene Skole is the new chairman of the board of Ørsted.

This is clear after the Danish businesswoman was officially elected at the company’s annual general meeting.

This also marks the end of a minor limbo that arose after the long-standing chairman Thomas Thune Andersen announced his resignation at the annual accounts on February 7.

At that time, Ørsted did not immediately have a new name ready, nor was Ørsted ready to announce who they had in mind as the new chairman at the notice of the general meeting.

This met with criticism in the market at a time when Ørsted has already been under fire after a difficult half-year in which the company withdrew from several major investments in the US.

In the fall, the major challenges cost both the CFO and the COO their jobs. Since then, the Chairman of the Board and most recently the Head of Communications have also left Ørsted.

Lene Skole’s name was first presented to the market on February 19, and the company will be headed by a person who knows both Ørsted and the Danish business community very well.

Lene Skole has been vice chairman of the board since 2015, which is why she has also been involved in the company’s recently published business plan towards 2030.

She is also well known in the business world, where she is currently CEO of the Lundbeck Foundation, vice chairman of the board of Lundbeck, ALK, Nordea and Falck.

She has also previously served as CFO of Coloplast and a Maersk company in the UK.

She will be joined on the board by Andrew Brown, who will become the new Vice Chairman.

In connection with the appointment, the Nomination & Remuneration Committee stated that it has evaluated internal and external candidates and in this connection identified Lene Skole and Andrew Brown.

”After the Board of Directors reached this conclusion, Lene Skole has clarified her availability to be available as Chairman of the Board of Directors, and this has now been confirmed,” Ørsted wrote in this connection.
