NRG will divest of its green business

In the attempt to lower its huge debt, the US energy company will divest of its assets which include several GW of wind and solar power.

US energy company NRG Energy has launched its new strategy which will transform the company over the next three years. It involves the sale of between 50 to 100 percent of the company's green assets.

As part of the transformation plan, the company is aiming to raise between USD 2.5 to 4 billion from selling the assets. This includes 6 GW of conventional production, but also between 50 and 100 percent of its ownership share in NRG Yield and its renewable platform.
