Swedish wind farm developer Eolus has not experienced a higher failure rates with Siemens Gamesa turbines compared to other similar component suppliers, all of which are ”experiencing some issues at the moment”.

This is according to a spokesperson from Eolus Vind after Siemens Gamesa’s parent company, Siemens Energy, last week tanked profits guidance for 2023 citing problems with its newer onshore turbines, writes news agency Reuters.

”There is always a risk that there will be technical issues from time to time in an industry that has grown so fast and where the technical development has been huge during the last decade,” the spokesperson said.

Currently, Eolus has 61 Siemens Gamesa turbines being installed in Sweden.

Deliveries are on schedule and Eolus has so far not experienced any serious quality issues with the turbines under construction. Eolus already has 19 Siemens Gamesa turbines in operation across five wind farms.

”Siemens is one of the most respected suppliers in the industry and we are always in close and constructive dialogs with them regarding performance and potential issues,” the Eolus spokesperson said, according to Reuters.
