Equinor, Vår Energi og Aker BP have located 1.3-2.6 million Sm3 of oil equivalent in the North Sea near the Vislund field, Equinor informs in a statement.

According to the media release, the license holders are considering attaching the discovery to field development project Garantiana.

"This is the first Equinor-operated well in the production license, and the fifth discovery on the Norwegian continental shelf this year. The discovery is in line with our roadmap of exploring near existing infrastructure in order to increase the commerciality," writes Equinor's Rune Nedregaard, senior vice president of Exploration and Production South.

Exploratory drilling at the Garantiana West prospect took place around 10 kilometers northeast of Vislund and 120 west of Florø on the western coast of Norway.
