Good news can’t be repeated often enough. Especially not at a time when competitors are facing huge challenges.

On Thursday evening, Vestas announced that the wind turbine manufacturer has signed a conditional agreement for the Polish offshore wind farm Baltic Power. The project is being built by Polish oil company PKN Orlen together with Canadian developer and long-time Vestas customer Northland Power.

Further details are not disclosed in the company announcement. But when Vestas announced a little over a year ago that it had been selected as a preferred supplier, the head of Northern and Central Europe, Nils de Baar, made a statement that probably still holds true:

”We are very proud to collaborate with PKN ORLEN and Northland Power on this landmark project for Poland, which has progressed thanks to all involved actors, including the Polish authorities.”

Danish offshore wind company Cadeler announced last month that it will be responsible for the installation of the project’s 76 Vestas V236 turbines.

A final investment decision on Baltic Power has not yet been made. However, at this year’s Wind Europe exhibition in April, Northland Power indicated that one was expected within a few months of the conference held in April.
