Energinet chair: Reservation requirement for hydrogen pipe could be less than 1.4 GW

The Danish Ministry of Finance’s calculation model ”is not particularly suitable” for assessing the future demand for green hydrogen, says Energinet’s chairman.

After postponements, delays and a surprisingly long final spurt in political negotiations, the agreement on the financing of the Danish hydrogen infrastructure was finally announced last week. One key figure made it through the process: the industry must commit to purchasing at least 1.4 GW of capacity annually before the state will commit to a share of the risk of the billion-dollar investment.
