Vattenfall wins grant to explore large-scale CO2-free steel production

The Hybrit initiative moves forward with a pilot project the world's first emissions-free sponge iron production. Now the utility gets a grant of SEK 22 million to explore how to dial the concept up to industrial scale.

A consortium dubbed Hybrit, consisting of Vattenfall, steelmaker SSAB and mining company LKAB, now aim to make one of the world's worst climate culprits, steel production, green by using hydrogen.
