Electric car manufacturer Tesla reports having delivered 310,000 cars during this year's first quarter, writes news agency AP referencing figures released Saturday.

During Q1 of 2021, the company delivered almost 185,000 cars, thereby now achieving growth of 68 percent.

This volume sets a new record for the group, whose previous quarterly was 308,600 units booked in Q4 of 2021.

Growth occurs despite logistical challenges and problems sourcing microchips – woes that have been burdening much of the automotive sector.

Tesla stock increased by 0.6 percent in aftermarket trading Friday.
