Tesla founder Elon Musk says that the EV manufacturer is forced to ”reduce the number of staff by around 10%.”

This is evident from an email sent to managers in the company. News agency Reuters has seen the email.

”I have a super bad feeling about the economy,” writes Musk.

Having received loans and tax breaks to keep Tesla afloat, Musk has said that some companies must go bankrupt, which would benefit the crisis-ridden global economy, which is marred by the war in Ukraine and the supply crisis in China.

The internal email is headlined ”pause all hiring worldwide”.

In a warning sent to employees this week, Musk wrote that they must return to their offices or leave the company.

”Everyone at Tesla is required to spend a minimum of 40 hours in the office,” the previous mail from Musk reads.

”If you don’t show up, we will assume you have resigned,” writes Musk.
