Big strike among Norwegian rigs workers canceled

In the small hours of the night, the trade unions representing Norwegian workers on a numbers of rigs reached agreement with the Norwegian Shipowners' Association to increase wages substantially. Thus averting a strike among 1,500 rig workers.

A looming large strike for a number of employees working on floating rigs in Norway was averted last night. This happened when the parties agreed on a new agreement following 16 hours of negotiations, writes Norwegian business daily Dagens Næringsliv.
