Wintershall says EU shouldn't underestimate natural gas

Though the oil and gas firm welcomes the EU's green legislative package, the company CEO urges that technology neutrality not be forgotten in the green energy transition.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen Wednesday presented the Fit for 55 legislation, which sets the direction for member countries on their road toward a CO2 reduction by 55 percent come 2030.

The package has met quite a bit of support: Interest groups, politicians and industry players all see it as an important step in climate change mitigation efforts, a view also shared by oil outfit Wintershall Dea.
