With a three-year framework deal in place, Norway's DeepOcean is hired to carry out service operations for Equinor's subsea cables in Northern Europe, Deep Ocean informs in a press statement.

The contract entails delivery of handling equipment and staff for subsea upkeep of high-voltage cables as well as contingency operations such as cutting, retrieval, on-deck cable repair and laying transmission lines along the sea floor. The three-year deal contains an option to extend by an additional four years.

"The renewables segment and associated electrification of offshore installations is a key focus area for Equinor and many other energy companies. DeepOcean has a clear ambition and strategy to support our clients in their quest for greener energy," writes DeepOcean Commercial Director for Subsea Services Rolf Ivar Sordal.

Even though the area of operation is initially limited to Northern Europe, the agreement can be extended to cover the rest of the word should Equinor require emergency repair beyond its home region.
