Maersk Drilling and Shell have twice prolonged their contract for vessel Maersk Viking operating in Malaysia. Extending the deal has an estimated value of USD 32m, the Danish company informs in a stock exchange notice Tuesday morning.
Maersk Viking will first drill a deepwater well for TotalEnergies in Malaysian waters in connection with project Tepar. The second option will be used to drill a similar well for Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas.
Both wells will be drilled off the Malaysian coast near Sabah.
The contract extension has an estimated term of 120 days, with commencement set for July this year.
Shell still holds three of five options included in the original contract from April 7, 2021.
