If Russia invades Ukraine, there will no longer be a Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

It will be shut down, says US President Joe Biden after meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Washington.

Recently finished, the Nord Stream 2 pipeline runs from western Russia to northern Germany through the waters near the Danish island of Bornholm.

It hasn't received the go-ahead for transporting gas yet.

"Germany is one of our most important allies in the world. There is no doubt about Germany's relationship with the United States," says biden.

Scholz warns Russia and says at the joint press conference that Germany fully supports very serious consequences for Russia if the Kremlin resorts to military force.
