State-owned Gazprom is unable to meet supply obligations with one of its European customers, the Russian gas company has announced, according to Reuters.
An anonymous trading source tells Reuters that the matter concerns gas supplied through the Nord Stream 1 Pipeline, which hasn’t been able to deliver sufficient volumes since July 14.
The pipeline carries gas supplies to Germany, among other European nations, which are heavily dependent on Russian gas.
Gazprom has declared force majeure due to the issues – meaning extraordinary circumstances beyond the company’s control.
The EU has set an end date for all imports of fossil fuels from Russia by 2027, but needs supplies to continue until a solution is found.
