Ravil Maganov, Chairman of the Board of Russian oil company Lukoil, has died after falling out of a hospital window in the Russian capital, Moscow, unnamed sources tell Bloomberg News.

The police is present at the scene, informs news agency Interfax and further adds that the chairman’s death has yet to be confirmed by authorities.

The oil outfit accounts for more than 2% of global crude oil production, according to CNN.

Lukoil’s board of directors went against Russian President Vladimir Putin after issuing a statement in March and urging ”the soonest possible termination of the armed conflict” in Ukraine.

”We express our sincere empathy for all victims, who are affected by this tragedy. We strongly support a lasting ceasefire and a settlement of problems through serious negotiations and diplomacy,” the board wrote at the time.

At that time, oligarch Vagit Alekperov was chair and CEO of the company.

According to Reuters, he stepped down from both positions the following month, having been targeted by EU sanctions.
