Nord Stream AG states Tuesday that it will examine the conditions of the leaky pipelines once the police investigation is complete, writes news agency Reuters.

Additionally, the Swiss company will cooperate with relevant authorities to the fullest extent possible, according to the report.

Danish, Swedish and German police are jointly investigating what caused the Nord Stream 1 and 2 leaks, stated Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson Friday.

Meanwhile, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen previously asserted that Danish authorities’ preliminary assessment found that leaks were caused by deliberate acts rather than accidents.

At a press conference last week, news emerged that deliberate blasts are likely to have caused the leaks.

A total of four leaks have been confirmed in the Baltic Sea.

The Nord Stream 2 pipeline was still leaking gas Monday, according to the Swedish Coast Guard.

During the weekend, it was reported that the gas leakage had ceased, but this turned out not to be the case.

The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) revealed that the Nord Stream AG companies had been told that continued leaks could be caused by gas having left the pipes, with the displaced volume increasingly filled with water, resulting in expulsion of remnant gas pockets.

Water pouring in could lead to damaging the pipelines over time, the agency noted.

Salt water will break down the materials of the pipelines in the event if the pipes remain at the ocean floor, according to the agency’s assessment.
