Equinor to develop deep-water discovery in Norwegian Sea

The Norwegian oil company and its partners plan to establish and commission the Irpa discovery and thus extend the Aasta Hansteen’s lifecycle.

As license holder for the Irpa discovery, Equinor has submitted an application to Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy Terje Aasland to develop and operate the discovery, Equinor confirms in a statement Tuesday morning on behalf of the partnership, which also includes Wintershall Dea, Petoro and Shell.
