From one oil giant to another.

Going forward, British national Gareth Burns will be closer to home after switching employer from Norwegian oil company Equinor to BP in order to spearhead the supermajor’s venture department, which oversees BP’s investments in new green tech and startups, reports news agency Reuters.

This isn’t unfamiliar territory for Burns, who helped set up Equinor’s venture division in 2016 which he led since its formation.

BP’s venture division has invested approx. USD 1bn in 70 companies, 30 of which BP actively manages.

In the same news article, Reuters reports that BP has hired Giorgia Carchitto as senior vice president of low carbon commercial assets after a stint at German utility RWE.
