Technical difficulties at Tyra gas field cause delays
The first gas has already started flowing from the newly opened Tyra gas field in the North Sea.
But it’s taking a little longer than expected to reach full production.
Total Energies, which is responsible for the renovation and operation of the field, says that technical challenges have arisen regarding a compressor that regulates the pressure in the gas pipelines.
The transformer that supplies power to the compressor needs to be repaired, which is causing delays.
Total Energies now expects to reach full capacity in the fourth quarter of this year.
”Our main priority remains a safe start-up and commissioning of Tyra so that Denmark can become a net exporter and self-sufficient in gas again later this year,” says Michael Lindholm Pihl Larsen, Technical Project Manager on the project for Total Energies.
In addition to producing gas itself, the installation on the Tyra field is also responsible for sending gas from the surrounding fields to the mainland.
If necessary, the gas can also be exported via the Netherlands.
Total Energies accounts for more than 80% of the oil and 90% of the gas produced in Denmark.
