EU lawyers shoot down EU Commission in Nord Stream 2 case

EU lawyers have shot down the EU Commission's attempt to negotiate a regulatory framework for Nord Stream 2 with Russia. The EU Parliament, however, says that negotiations are necessary for political reasons irrespectively.

"EU rules cannot be enforced against authorities in third world countries," noted a legal brief from the EU Commission over one week ago which aimed to support the mandate of the EU's 28 member states to negotiate the legal framework for the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
