New York sets target of 9 GW offshore wind

With an almost fourfold increase of its existing target, the state of New York now aims to overtake several European offshore wind markets, while investing more than USD 200 million in the US Achilles' heel.

New York is currently carrying out its fist offshore wind tender. However, the state has already declared itself the undisputed home of the wind industry of the future. That statement is now being backed by Governor Andrew Cuomo's new agenda, which increases the target for expansion from 2.4 GW in 2030 to now being 9 GW by 2035.
