The world has depleted this year's resources

Monday, three days earlier than last year, the global economy has exhausted Earth's resources for this year.

The global economy is using far more more resources than Earth is capable of replenishing. Monday, this year's bounty is spent, and the rest of year will run on unsustainable consumption, shows a new report from Global Footprint Network. The day, called "Earth Overshoot Day", arrives three days earlier than last year.
