New North Sea drillings encounter political mine field

While the Jill drillings are fully underway, the Danish government's support parties hope that the Hess-led exploration will be the last of its kind. Several large oil and gas players vow to adjust to the political landscape but think denying future licenses would be a mistake.

One doesn't need to speak for very long with a representative of member of lobby group Oil Gas Denmark to hear someone mention the Jill drillings, which Hess began last week in the Danish North Sea. Similarly, any politician would be quick to inform that the drillings are a contentious subject in Parliament.
