Danish wind sector wants test center for 400-meter turbines

Additional, larger test locations are needed to keep up with Denmark's development pace, states an industry report. Wind Denmark plans to enter talks with policy makers and interested municipalities.

In December, Siemens Gamesa set a new record for wind turbine height in Denmark. This meant beating its own record by a margin, as the prototype of the 11-MW offshore wind turbine installed last winter at test center Østerild had its blades replaced, bringing its rotor diameter from 193 to 200 meters and its tip height to 240 meters.
