Statnett restructures to keep up with Norway's green electrification

Norwegian TSO Statnett implements a new operating strategy to meet the demands of the green energy transition. Two new and separate business areas for grids and development at sea make up part of the plan.

Norway's power consumption could grow up to 220TWh by 2050 compared to around 140TWh today, according to domestic transmission system operator Statnett. This places significant demands on the TSO, which builds and operates Norway's national transmission grid as the overseer of its electricity system.
