On Tuesday, the UK ejected a Chinese company from involvement in developing a nuclear power plant Sizewell C, located in eastern England’s Suffolk County, reports AFP.

Construction will instead exclusively take place in cooperation with Électricité de France.

Britain’s announcement comes at a time marked by particularly tense diplomatic ties between London and Beijing.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Monday that China ”poses a systemic challenge to [British] values and interests.”

On Tuesday, the UK summoned China’s ambassador in London to talk about Shanghai police assaulting a BBC journalist upon arrest amid street protests in the city, reports media Evening Standard, according to Reuters.
