Ørsted, Equinor and BP to request additional USD 25.35bn from New York

The city council calls for calm, while the consumer association demands an outright rejection of the developers’ request for much higher billing rates.

It is not pennies that are being asked for in the ongoing renegotiation of offshore wind contracts in New York. Ørsted is asking for a 27% increase in the settlement price for Sunrise Wind to USD 139.99/MWh. Meanwhile, Equinor and BP are seeking between 35%-66% more for their three offshore wind projects in New York at prices between USD 159.64-190.82/MWh, according to a consultation response from the state’s energy agency, Nyserda.
