GE sued over turbine design flaws

The turbines, valued at USD 6.4bn, have suffered numerous key component failures that have led to at least one ”catastrophic incident”, claims a customer. GE is ”disappointed” and denies liability.

GE Vernova is facing a potentially hugely expensive problem. American Electric Power (AEP) has filed a lawsuit in New York’s highest court alleging serious and pervasive defects in three recent wind farms for which the turbine manufacturer has supplied nearly 1.5 GW. The energy company believes that GE should pay for repairs and replacements, which is denied by the supplier.
