CIP may drop ammonia production as part of Danish gigawatt project

The Høst project in Esbjerg could end up producing only hydrogen instead. ”The ammonia market is not as advanced as we thought it would be,” admits the project director.

On Tuesday, CIP achieved a breakthrough for the production of green ammonia. In the EU’s first hydrogen tender, the Danish infrastructure fund and its consortium partners secured just under half a billion euros in funding for two projects in Spain and Portugal, where a total electrolysis capacity of 1GW will produce ammonia in particular.
